ESASO Fellowships and Observerships
ESASO Fellowships and Observerships enable young ophthalmologists to acquire expertise and hands-on experience in a particular subspecialty.
The fellowships offer an invaluable opportunity to learn from globally renowned ophthalmologists in subspecialties.
We offer fellowships in subspecialties such as anterior segment surgery, glaucoma, medical and surgical retina, oculoplastic and research as outlined below.
ESASO Fellowship Programme
The one-year full ESASO Fellowship is an advanced subspecialty-training programme, which offers doctors the opportunity to acquire hands-on surgical expertise at a prestigious affiliated institution. Previous participation in ESASO modules not mandatory. In addition, ESASO provides a grant of up to €40,000 to successful applicants. View the ESASO Fellowship Programme Brochure PDF
ESASO Observership Programme
The four-week ESASO Observership enables participants to explore a subspecialty further, perhaps prior to applying to a one-year full fellowship. This programme is restricted to those effectively participating in an ESASO module. Thus, in each module the participants with the best grades at the final exam is offered the opportunity to pursue an observership in the same subspecialty. In addition, ESASO provides a grant of up to €1,000 to successful applicants. View the ESASO Observership
ESASO Visiting Fellowship in Cataract Surgery
The ESASO Visiting Fellowship is a four-week programme which offers participants the opportunity to hone their cataract surgical skills at the LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) in Hyderabad, India.
