Former Director of the University Eye Clinic, Marburg, Germany
Peter Kroll studied medicine at the University of Bonn.
1972 he started his ophthalmological training with Prof. Dr. Ingrid Kreissig at the University Eye Clinic of Bonn.
There, during several years, he achieved his knowledge of diseases of the posterior eye segments and especially retinal detachment surgery.
Later in 1978 he changed to the University Eye Clinic of Münster under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. H.J. Küchle.
From there whit Prof. Dr. K. Heimann in Cologne and with Dr. R. Zivojnovic in Rotterdam, he learned all techniques of vitreo-retinal surgeries with all kind of internal tamponades.
In Marburg, since 1989 as Director of the University Eye Clinic, his main field of interest became the understanding and treatment of Proliferative Diabetic Vitreo-Retinopathy (PDVR).
He developed a grading of PDVR as well as a hypothesis of the pathogenesis of AMD.
Since 2008, at the age of 65, he is retired from his active live in ophthalmology.
