Studying at ESASO

If you wish to become an ophthalmologist who can handle patients with medical issues in all areas you will seek to broaden your knowledge in various subspecialties. ESASO offers you the possibility to study cutting-edge of different ophthalmic disciplines.


Our educational programme is based on a modular system which allows you to choose your study programme and plan your time.

Choose from three programmes, each leading to a separatecertificate:

1. Participants of single modulesreceive a certificate of attendance and CME credits.

2. Students who complete all five modulesreceive theDiploma of Specialist Superior in Ophthalmology(DiSSO), which is equivalent to the Certificate ofAdvanced Studies (CAS) including 15 ETCS.

3. As alumni that has completed the DiSSO you are eligible to apply for the one-yearfellowship programme at one of a number of prestigiousinstitutions (see Fellowships ((underlie with link to Fellowships))). After completion of your Fellowship you will be awarded with the Master of Advanced Studies inOphthalmology (MAS).
