Neil Bressler is Chief of the Retina Division at the Wilmer Eye Institute at John Hopkins University School of Medicine and has an endowed Chair as the inaugural James P. Gills Professor of Ophthalmology. His main research interests have been collaborative efforts in clinical trials of common retinal diseases, including AMD and diabetic retinopathy, having chaired several NIH-sponsored and industry-sponsored multicentre RCTs and authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications. He is currently Chair of the National Eye Institute’s Data and Safety Monitoring Committee for intramural clinical trials and has chaired the FDA Ophthalmic Devices Panel. He is also Chair of the Continuing Medical Education Advisory Board at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr Bressler is the 21st President of the Macula Society and has been the Editor-in-Chief of JAMA Ophthalmology since July 2013. Outside of medicine, Dr Bressler is Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Interlochen Center for the Arts.
