Professor Gemmy Cheung is currently Professor, Duke-NUS Medical School, National University of Singapore, and Head of the Medical Retina Department, Singapore National Eye Center. She also heads the Retina Research Group at the Singapore Eye Research Institute. Her research focus on Asian retinal diseases, specifically age-related macular degeneration (AMD), polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) and myopic macular degeneration. She has published >200 peer-reviewed articles, and >10 book chapters, and has completed several clinical trials in anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapies in the capacity of principle investigator. She is a council member of the Asia-pacific vitreoretinal society and serves on the Editorial boards of several journals, including the American Journal of Ophthalmology, Retina and Eye.
Prof Cheung has received a number of prestigious awards, including the AAO Secretariat Award, the AAO Achievement award, the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Outstanding Service in Prevention of Blindness Award, the APAO Nakajima Award, the Macula Society Young Investigator Award and the Asia-pacific vitreoretinal society Constable lecture award.
