Dr. Marco Codenotti is the Chief of the Vitreoretinal Surgery Service of the Department of Ophthalmology, San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan. He is also adjunct professor in the Ophthalmology Course of the Medicine and Surgery Course in the Vita-Salute University, San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan.
He is a retinal specialist and a national expert in vitreoretinal surgery. He performs more than 600 operations per year, including anterior and posterior segment surgery and laser photocoagulation. He is also the institutional referral ophthalmologist for rare diseases (Coats Disease and Familial Exudative Vitreoretinopathy – FEVR).
Dr. Marco Codenotti is a member of important national scientific societies, including Italian Ophthalmolgy Society (SOI), and Society for laser application in ophthalmology (SILO). He published more than 40 articles on Pub-Med indexed journals mainly related to retinal and vitreoretinal diseases. He is routinely a member of scientific panels and speaker in national and international congresses.
He is the first Italian surgeon to have implanted a subretinal prosthesis for the treatment of end-stage inherited retinal degeneration in a blind patient.
He served as trained principal investigator in several clinical trials performed following ICH/GCP and mainly concerning vitreoretinal disorders and diabetic retinopathy.
