Head of Ophthalmology Department in Biella since July 2016 he graduated at University of Pavia in 1986 and specialized with Honours in Ophthalmology at the same University in 1990. He started his experience in episcleral surgery under guidance of H.Lincoff and I.Kreissig focusing later on vitreous surgery of PVR and Macular Surgery, secondary IOL implants and complicated cataract. Physician at the San Raffaele Hospital and University of Varese from 1990 until 2001 he became Senior Surgeon at the University Eye Clinic of Tübingen in 1997-1998. Adjunct Professor of Vitreo-Retinal Pathology and Surgery at the Specialization School in Ophthalmology of Varese since 1995 until 2007. Since 2001 until 2015 Head of the Vitreoretinal Unit and Scientific Director of post-residential advanced courses of vitreoretinal surgery at the SS. Trinità Hospital in Arona and Borgomanero (Novara). Faculty Member of the International Tubingen Detachment Course since 1992 and of the Thessaloniki Vitreoretinal Summer School since 2011. He has a surgical experience of more than 14.000 Phaco-emulsification with IOL implant, 6800 Pars Plana Vitrectomies for all the possible vitreoretinal surgeries, 1.200 Buckling procedures, 50 Perforating and Endotelial Keratoplasty. Author of several national and international publications has since a decade a very active didactic activity performing Live Vitreoretinal Surgery at International Meetings in Europe and Asia and Middle East.
