15 years have already passed since we opened our first training center in Lugano: today, ESASO is a solid, developed, high-quality academic system that welcomes student from all around the world in strategically-positioned training centers in Europe and Asia, where to get access to the latest technologies and techniques.

Is a state-of-the-art training facility that provides hands-on training and education to ophthalmologists and eye care professionals.

The ETC offers a variety of training programmes, including wet labs and theory lessons which are conducted by a team of experienced and highly trained ophthalmologists. The facility is equipped with the latest surgical and diagnostic equipment, including microscopes, phacoemulsification systems, 3D, and vitreoretinal systems.

The ESASO’s training programmes are designed to provide participants with the latest knowledge and skills in ophthalmology, with a focus on practical, hands-on experience and theory as well. The programmes cover a wide range of topics, including cataract surgery, vitreoretinal surgery, corneal surgery, glaucoma surgery, oculoplastics and much more.

SINGAPORE

Singapore was chosen as the venue for the new Training Center because it can be considered the “Switzerland of Asia” for its well-developed academic system, central location, good infrastructure and facilities, and political and social stability.

It features state-of-the-art lecture facilities with internet and network connections, as well as specialised console tables that can be converted into wetlab workstations. The Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Adrian Koh as Executive Director Asia.

By end of 2017, ESASO Asia had successfully conducted 14 modules in Medical & Surgical Retina, Uveitis and Glaucoma, as well as a workshop on OCT. The modules had seen participation by 714 ophthalmologists from 31 countries. Besides the programs conducted in our Singapore Training Centre, ESASO Asia had also conducted modules in Shanghai; Beijing, P.R. China and in Hanoi, Vietnam.

📍 The Singapore Training Center is located at one of Singapore’s most prestigious private medical establishments: the Camden Medical Center, on Orchard Road in the heart of the city (Maps).

After the success of Lugano and Singapore Training Centers, in 2021 ESASO inaugurated a new Training Centre in Lublin, a perfect location thanks to its geographical position and its academic and educational profile.

The ESASO Training Centre in Lublin is located within the Medical Simulation Centre, whose mission is to improve medical qualifications with the use of simulation training. Trainees are given the chance to perform realistic exercises using advanced equipment, which allow them to improve the learning stage and get considerable benefits for future medical operations. The Medical Simulation Centre is dedicated to the education of medical specialists and researchers. It allows to teach in fields of paediatrics, dentistry, nursing, obstetrics, physiotherapy, and emergency medicine. In the MSC you can find: Ambulance simulator, Intensive care rooms, Operating block, Objective structured clinical examinations (OSCE) and classes with simulated patients.

ESASO introduced ophthalmology courses to what the MSC offered, with a particular focus on cataract treatments. Each ESASO module offers theoretical and practical tuition, by combining theoretical lessons and wet lab. All lessons are highly interactive.

The ESASO Board has nominated Prof Robert Rejdak as Scientific Director.

PARMA

2021 was also the year of the inauguration of ESASO Training Center in Parma, within the Department of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Parma.

The Centre is equipped with a classroom and a wet lab with workstations dedicated to surgical training in ophthalmology. The learning experience focuses on evaluation of patients in a clinical setting.

The ESASO Board appointed Prof. Stefano Gandolfi as Scientific Director of the Campus in Parma.
