Eva Lenassi is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with an interest in Retinal Genetics. She underwent medical training at the University of Ljubljana and postgraduate ophthalmology training in Ljubljana, London and Manchester. She undertook a PhD on retinal dystrophies (2007-2011); this gave her the opportunity to work for over 2 years at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology & Moorfields Eye Hospital on diverse projects ranging from basic science studies to clinical trials. After completing her PhD she was appointed to a 2-year postdoctoral Clinical Research post working at Moorfields Eye Hospital on syndromic retinal disease. She obtained her EBO Diploma in 2016 and since February 2017 she has been working at Manchester University Hospitals in a dedicated ophthalmic genetics post.
Eva’s major clinical and research interests include inherited retinal disorders, AMD genetics and visual electrophysiology. She has published extensively in these areas and she has won a number of awards for her work, including the International Medis Award for Medical Research.
