TRAVERSO Carlo E.

Carlo E. Traverso received his MD degree from the University of Genova Medical School, where he also attended the Residency program.

He subsequently attended the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, where he completed subspecialty training in Glaucoma with George L. Spaeth, MD and in Cornea with Peter Laibson, MD (1981-1983).

Shortly after returning to the University of Genova, Prof. Traverso moved to King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh where he worked for 3.5 years (1985 – 1988) as a Glaucoma Specialist.

He has been since at the University Eye Clinic in Genova, where he has a tenure and he is the the Director of Clinica Oculistica, Department of Neurosciences, Ophthalmology and Genetics, University of Genova since November, 1st, 2009.

Prof. Traverso is presently member of the Executive Committee of the European Glaucoma Society (EGS) as Vice President.

An ARVO member attending the Annual Meeting since 1981, Prof. Traverso was part of the glaucoma section Program Planning Committee (1995 – 1998) which he chaired in 1998,  and of the Long range Planning Committee (since 1997); ARVO fellow in 2009.
