Most of Prof. Weinberger’s basic science research focuses on the study of patho-physiology, imaging and treatment of retinal diseases, both in basic science models and at the IN-VIVO studies. Significant part of his research focuses on the study of retinal blood retinal barriers in Age-related macular degeneration, Diabetic retinopathy, RVO and Choroidopathies.
Prof. Weinberger serves as principle investigator in many international multicenter clinical studies as well as leader of many original publications ranked at heights
ophthalmic scientific literature. Rabin Medical Center ophthalmology research unit is considered one of the most active research units in Israel.
Prof. Weinberger also received several academic and professional awards including American society of retina specialists honor award at 2010.
Prof. Weinberger is actively involved in educational program in Tel-Aviv University, Sackler School of medicine as a teacher of many students, residents and fellows in Ophthalmology.
