Elena Arrondo Murillo obtained her medical degree from the Universidad de Navarra in 1996 and performed her ophthalmology training in the
ophthalmology department of Hospital Vall d´Hebron , Universidad Autónoma of Barcelona from 1997 to 2001. After the residency, she worked as glaucoma consultant in the Hospital Mutua de Terrassa in Barcelona from 2001 until 2006. She lectured Ocular Pathology at the School of Optics and Optometry at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia between 2001 and 2003. Since 2007, she is consultant and medical coordinator of the Glaucoma Department at the Instituto de Microcirugía Ocular (IMO) in Barcelona, and Lecturer in the Glaucoma and Anterior Segment Master’s Degrees of the IMO and the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Autónoma of Barcelona. She specializes in glaucoma and ocular hypertension, with a special interest in medical and surgical treatment of this disease. She has taken part in several multicenter clinical trials related to the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma.
