PEIRETTI Enrico

MD, Ophthalmologist and retina specialist


Enrico Peiretti dedicated his working life principally to the ophthalmic research for the last 20 years.  His four years residency in Ophthalmology has been completed at the University of Cagliari, Italy. During the residency program at the University of Cagliari, Dr Peiretti spent six months for an international fellowship program at the “Fondation A. de Rothschild” in Paris under the supervision of Prof. S. Morax. 

In 2004 after the residency program completed an international fellowship at the LuEsther T. Mertz Retina Research Institute; Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, New York with Dr Lawrence Yannuzzi. Since then, his practice and his research have been mainly focused on medical retina pathologies. 

In 2010 dr. Peiretti become an Assistant professor at the Eye-Clinic, University of Cagliari, Italy, and in the 2013 completed the Vitreous-Retina Surgery fellowship at the Academisch Medisch Centrum (AMC) in Amsterdam, Netherlands, he is still a certificate ophthalmologist in the Netherlands BIG register. 

In 2019 dr Peiretti became an associate professor at the University of Cagliari and is the head of the Retina Unit at the eye Clinic, University of Cagliari, Italy, and is the most proficient Vitreous-Retina Surgeon at the surgical department of Cagliari University. 

Dr. Peiretti is author of nearly 100 articles in peer-reviewed international journals and book chapters and attended at many international meetings and lectured worldwide about retina and vitreous diseases. He also participates as PI to many multicentric clinical trials as well as collaborator of several national and international projects in the retina field. He is member of the editorial board of the Journal of Ophthalmology as well as reviewer to numerous ophthalmologic journals mainly focusing on medical and surgical retina pathologies. Dr Peiretti developed 2 international patents as well as he is medical advisor for several pharmaceutical companies related to the ophthalmic field.
