Dr Mercè Morral performed her Residency Program in Ophthalmology from 2002 to 2006 at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Hospital Vall d’Hebron, and a clinical fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Instituto de Microcirugía Ocular (IMO) (2006-2007). She developed her work as a Refractive Surgeon at the London Vision Clinic (2010-2011), and as a Cataract and Corneal Surgeon at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, where she was involved in several clinical trials (2007-2010, and 2010-2015). She has also performed Observerships at the Price Vision Group (Dr. Francis Price) and at the Massachussets Eye and Ear Infirmary (Dr Reza Dana). She is currently a Corneal and Refractive Surgery specialist at IMO, with special interest in Dry Eye research.
Dr Morral is a past-member of the Young Ophthalmologists Committee and the Program Committee of the ESCRS, and current member of the Publications Committee of the ESCRS. She has participated as external expert reviewer for the Horizon 2020 program of the Research Executive Agency (REA), European Commission (call “Personalising Health and Care”). She is also a regular speaker at international meetings and reviewer of the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the British Journal of Ophthalmology, the Journal of Refractive Surgery, the Journal of Emmetropia, and the Journal of Ophthalmology. She has participated in several clinical trials, and published over 60 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
